Yesterday, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) donated 500 number of 5-kilogram FLT cylinder to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in a program held at the chief minister’s secretariat at Babupara. CM praised the officials of IOCL for this valuable support to the victims of the flood.
While addressing the gathering on this occasion, CM has also announced that each ruling MLA will give support to build 20 to 30 houses in each constituency for the families affected by the flood, from the MLA local area development fund. He also mentioned that he will be writing to the opposition MLAs while sanctioning the local area development fund, to do the same in their respective constituencies.
In his speech, he also shared his grievance for the loss of seven lives. He said this rainfall was recorded the heaviest after the 1989 rainfall. The government is working at its best level to tackle and control the flood. There are over 200 relief camps. MAHUD department had installed portable washroom and toilets at different flood relief camps too. Government is taking care of the supply of drinking water and essential food items in flood affected area.
About the areas affected by recent landslides, he mentioned that government is sincerely working in those areas too. Recently, Imphal-Jiribam road has been cleared and the vehicles which were stranded on the road have started moving since today afternoon. Lastly, CM also appealed people of the state to come forward and support initiatives of the government in flood-affected areas.
