Recently, few Kashmiri youths had shunned the militancy route of violence and turned back to the mainstream. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her government is making sincere effort to counsel the families of militants to convince them for giving up the militancy way.
In the Legislative Council, BJP MLC Vikram Randhawa had asked a question over this issue and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had given a written reply to this question. In her reply, she shared that four misguided youths had returned to the mainstream. Government is taking to families of other misguided youth. Government is counseling these families of militants to advise their ward to give up militancy.
Mehbooba Mufti said her government had worked on number of states to control extremism and also undertaken various youth engagement activities; one of them is cricket tournaments. Several youth clubs had been set up at the police station level. With the help of these clubs, we are offering training in information technology and indoor games to the local youths. Other than this, we are also monitoring social media usage as the Internet plays vitally in spreading rumors.
