A child without father name! Yes, Madras high court has given a directive to authorities to keep that column blank for Tavishi Perara. The child’s mother, Mathumitha Ramesh got divorce form Charan Raj a few years ago. Mathumitha decided to have a baby using intrauterine fertility treatment. Tavishi was born in April 2017. During this treatment, Mathumitha got the help of a friend Manish Madanpal Meena. The Trichy Corporation commissioner issued birth certificate considering Manish Madanpal Meena as the child’s ‘father’.
When Mathumitha approached authorities seeking removal of Meena’s name, it was rejected because the mother of the baby was not asking for the correction. She was asking to keep father’s name column as blank.
Mathumitha approached other officers too. But, none understood her. So, she decided to go High Court. After a year, Justice M S Ramesh granted Mathumitha’s demand as she had become pregnant through intrauterine fertility treatment.
