Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project to get each and every one of 18, 452 villages in India which were deprived of electric power ever since independence connected to the national power grid came to fruition on Sunday. Leisang village in Manipur became the last village in the country to be connected to the power grid and get a live electricity supply to its homes.
The Union Ministers welcomed the completion of the project prior to the defined deadline and rejoiced the first step that India took towards becoming the ‘Powerful India’. PM tweeted on his Twitter handle to express his satisfaction at the achievement. He congratulated those who worked on the field to turn this dream into a reality and stated that the day of 28th April 2018 would be etched forever in the history of the nation as a milestone in the road to development of the nation.
With this historic achievement, each and every village in India now have access to electrical power supply and the government is looking forward to achieving the same feat with the LPG Subsidy project, another dream project under the current government.
