To probe all the allegations against, vice chancellor, Manipur University, one fact finding committee has been constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Higher Education. Yesterday, one order has been signed by the under secretary to the Government of India, Umesh Kumar. Former Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, T. Nandakumar Singh as chairperson J.K Tripathi, joint secretary UGC, and Surat Singh, of the HRD ministry as members, would be members of the committee.
Manipur chief minister, N. Biren Singh met the HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday and he urged for an impartial inquiry to be headed by a retired Judge of a High court.
This fact-finding committee would be free to devise its own procedure for conducting the inquiry. As per the order, this committee is asked to submit its report within a month from the date of issuing the order.
The agitators have also demanded an independent enquiry committee headed at least by a retired Chief Justice of a High Court.
