I&B ministry will now set up a social media communication hub to monitor online content across each of India’s 716 districts. As per the available report, it will be implemented through the ministry’s broadcast engineering arm, BECIL. It has requested the ministry about the need for a social media analytical (SMA) tool. It says: “A technology platform is needed to collect digital media chatter from all core social media platforms in a single system providing real-time insights, metrics and other valuable data.”
This SMA tool should be capable of crawling World Wide Web and social media to monitor and analyse various trends emerging and to gauge sentiment among netizens.
Not just this, it should also be able to distinguish between “positive, negative and neutral social media conversations” in the context of the views of I&B ministry.
