At a metal fittings company in Germany, authorities arrested a man in case of various deaths after having poisoned food. The man was arrested for the incident in the town of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, northwest Germany. Police have a doubt over his role in the case of 21 deaths of people working for the same company.
In the month of May, the suspect was caught on camera while adding some white substance to the co-worker’s lunch. Police have detained the 56-year-old suspect.
“In the beginning, we thought it was a misconceived prank between co-workers and not a murder attempt,” said Tilo Blechinger, the manager for the metal fittings manufacturer ARI Armaturen. However, police confirmed that the used powder was lead acetate, a highly toxic substance. Thus, the case was escalated to an attempted murder.
On Wednesday, police announced that they are going to re-investigating other 21 deaths since 2000. Many of the deceased died of cancer or heart attacks, which could be caused by heavy metal poisoning.
Till the posting of this report, the suspect has chosen to remain silent after his arrest.
