On Saturday, M. Hemanta Singh, chairman, JCILPS, Jiribam Branch, held a press meeting at the office of All Manipur Student Union (AMSU) District Committee Jiribam. He shared that four persons were denied entry into Manipur state and were made to turn back by the JCILPS Students Wing. These four people were not having proper identification documents with them.
JCILPS Student Wing, Jiribam Branch in collaboration with other student unions began their drive from the Saturday morning at Jirbam district and checked the passenger vehicles and trucks entering into the state.
M. Hemanta Singh said, “We do not make claims such as no outsiders are allowed to enter into Manipur, but they must carry proper identifying documents.”
Co-convenor JCILPS, Y. Sanjiv Meetei also mentioned that the drive was initiated because of high chances of migrants entering the state due to NRC in Assam.
