As per the recent updates from The Home Ministry, A relaxation has been declared in the six-decade-old Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime.
With effect from April 1, foreigners can now travel to Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur. Under the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958, all areas falling between the Inner line and the International Border of some states were declared as protected areas.
With an aim to promote tourism, the central government exempts some of such protected areas from the need of special permission for foreigners. However, visiting citizens from Pakistan, China and Afghanistan continue to be banned from all PAP areas, including Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur.
