Some parts of Manipur is still facing natural calamity and stated under flood water in the latest release from Relief and Disaster Management. However, it states that the flood situation is now improving across the state.
Till now, altogether 51,689 victims from different flood affected areas were evacuated. 174 relief camps were opened and the government is distributing relief materials including essential commodities in all possible places. Due to the flood, 23,456 houses were damaged and loss of 7 lives has been reported. The flood has also claimed lives of 400 animals and damaged 3,947 hectares of agricultural land.
In Imphal East district, 9 Assembly Constituencies out of existing 10 Assembly Constituencies are severely affected. This covers all 3 sub-divisions of Porompat, Sawombung and Keirao Bitra.
Defence teams of Army/Indian Navy/Airforce, Paramilitary forces, Engineers of Assam Rifles, teams of SDRF and State Police are also actively taking part in the relief and rescue operation.
