This sounds a bizarre punishment. As per the reports received, one jawan from BSF got penalty of a seven-day pay cut as he did not affix ‘Shri’ while mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his report presentation. Border Security Force officials have counted it as showing disrespect to the PM.
On February 21, Constable Sanjeev Kumar was appointed to give his report during the zero parade. During his presentation, Sanjeev used the word “Modi programme” while giving a report. His commanding officer inside the BSF’s 15th Battalion headquarters in Mahatpur, Nadia (West Bengal), Commandant Anup Lal Bhagat, decided to initiate disciplinary action against Kumar.
Post initial trial, Constable Sanjeev Kumar was found “guilty” under Section 40 of the BSF Act. This act of Border Security Force laws, talk about prejudicial to good order and discipline of the force.
As an outcome of the trial, Constable Sanjeev Kumar of BSF’s 15th Battalion posted in Mahatpur, Nadia (West Bengal) got a penalty of a ‘seven-day pay’ cut showing disrespect toward PM Narendra Modi.
