AAP leader had called Nitin Gadkari as one of the most corrupt politicians of India. Arvind Kejriwal did this in various public meetings. He had done the same with on many occasions. As a result, Nitin Gadkari and Kapil Sibal had filed defamation cases against him.
After few dates of the hearing in these cases, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday has asked for an apology from Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Kapil Sibal. A written apology has been given by Kejriwal for making unverified allegations of corruption against them.
It was shared by the party that he truly wanted to close these defamation cases against him. Hence, he himself decided to go in this way. In these apology letters, he requested them to end the court proceedings as an acceptance of this written apology.
In the Nitin Gadkari case, Kejriwal wrote, “I made certain statements…which seem to have hurt you. I have nothing personal against you. I regret the same.” After having this letter of apology, both have filed a joint affidavit and also informed the city court that they did not wish to pursue this case anymore.
This is not the first apology letter by Kejriwal in the Year 2018. Recently, he had written the similar sort of apology to former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia whom he had accused of running a drug trade.
Around four years ago, Arvind raised question over the honesty of Nitin Gadkari and called him as a corrupt politician. This was done repeatedly in various public meetings of Aam Aadmi Party. Thus,  the Union transport minister sued AAP leader for defamation. Kejriwal had also raised question over Kapil Sibal and his son, Amit. Arvind accused them for gaining financial benefit in return of favouring a cellular company. Kejriwal pointed out that Amit was legal counsel of that company and he along with his fater Kapil Sibal worked for revision in tax demand for that cellular company.
Along with a letter to Nitin Gadkari, Kejriwal has also written a similar apology to Kapil Sibal. Regarding this Congress leader, Kapil Sibal said that Arvind Kejriwal has accepted that all the allegations they had put on my son Amit and me were baseless. I have received the apology letter too on this Monday. Manish Sisodia has also given a written apology for his act on similar issue. As they have apologized for his act, therefore, I will prefer to forget everything now. We have also informed the court in a legal way regarding this apology.
Not just these 3 defamation cases, Arvind still have over thirty court cases and out of these cases, 11 cases are for defamation act by the AAP leader. There are still few other prominent names like South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, Congress leader Pawan Khera and Union finance minister Arun Jaitley who had sued Kejriwal for defamation.
