In Imphal, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a Six Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plants (400 kW). In his speech, CM stated that all villages of Manipur will be electrified within a month period. There were 300 villages without the electricity and we have been successful in giving electricity to over 250 villages out of these 300 villages.
These Six Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plants are installed at National Sports Academy (100kW), Manipur State Film Development Society (25kW), Inter State Bus Terminus (100kW), Secured Office Complex (25kW), City Convention Centre (100kW) and Manipur State Kala Academy (50kW).
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh further added that his government has done this in such a short period of time.
Minister for Power, PWD, IPR, Biswajit Singh was also present in this event and he added further more details about Six Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plants.  Biswajit Singh stated that this 3.21 crores project is funded by the Government of India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Manipur State Government. This project is being implemented by Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency.
About the improving condition of electricity supply, he further added that 400kWp power plants have generated about 80,000 kWh (electrical units) so far. An additional capacity of 215 kWp is under installation process with 200 kWp at Khengjang Sub-Station, Churachandpur and 15kWp at Directorate of Handloom and Textiles, Takyelpat. There would be no shortage of power in Manipur in the coming years.
Minister for Power, PWD, IPR, Biswajit Singh also assured that installation of few more solar projects is in the pipeline which would be inaugurated within the month of March.
