As an outcome of the case of a WhatsApp video, where one person has threatened Manipuris staying outside the state to be badly punished for travelling en-route Bihar in trains and buses, police has got huge success. Rupesh Kumar of Begusarai, Bihar was arrested and was sent to 15 days judicial custody by the chief judicial magistrate, Imphal West. Rupesh was charged with uploading communal videos.
On May 25, Imphal police had forwarded a threat video report to Cybercrime unit, Imphal West. One Facebook user, Suresh Meisnam was firstly arrested for spreading a video that has the potential of spreading hatred among different classes of society. In connection with the case, Cybercrime unit police also arrested six more locals.
Now, further investigation revealed that the video clip was sent from Bihar by Rupesh. Police were able to arrest him on June 9 and reportedly he has also admitted his crime.
