Yesterday, Congress leader, Gaikhangam hold a press conference at Manipur PCC head office located at B.T. road. Addressing media person, he told that Manipur PCC urged Central government to withdraw citizenship amendment bill 2016 as it would affect the state identity. On June 25, a team of 25 state Congress delegates brought the issue of the state to the president, Ram Nath Kovind. President assured state Congress leaders that this issue will be looked into in a serious manner.
Regarding the framework agreement, Gaikhangam said that Citizenship amendment bill 2016 is a communal colour bill as it could bring communal crisis among the people of the country. Most of the northeastern state will get huge impact when the bill turns into an act. The bill is illegal for the public.
