Several representatives of women bodies, students of Sports Authority of India, Manipur jointly staged a protest demonstration in favour of the famous weightlifter Sanjita Chanu. All these protesters were demanding clarification from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) on the ‘controversial’ dope test which resulted in the ban for the weightlifter.
M. Shanti, leader of a women’s body said that all of us need a clarification from the IWF. In the past, this had happened to many other Manipuri Players too. We will not be silent this time and continue our sincere support to Sanjita.
One player from SAI Manipur also said that such incident has demoralized the entire Manipuri players. Indian Weight Lifting Federation (IWLF) and IWF should take up a joint initiative to clear the controversy surrounding the test samples of Sanjita.
