On Wednesday, India’s medal surge at the Asian Games was continued by Wushu Players. Naorem Roshibina Devi, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, Santosh Kumar and Narender Grewal won a Wushu bronze medal each.
In the men’s competition, India got three medals. Meanwhile, Naorem Roshibina Devi took a bronze in the women’s section after losing 0-1 to China’s Cai YingYing in the 60kg semi-final.
Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore applauded her performance and tweeted, “A great performance by our Wushu champion N Roshibina Devi! She has clinched a medal in the 60kg Sanda event at the #ASIANGAMES2018 with deft skills and dedication! Way to go Champion, we’re so proud of you

Not just the sports minister, PM Modi himself tweeted about the performance of a young girl. Narendra Modi tweeted, “Well done N Roshibina Devi! India’s Wushu champion excels on the world stage and wins a Bronze in the 60 kg Sanda event at the @asiangames2018. Congratulations to her and best wishes for future endeavours.”

Naorem Roshibina is the daughter of Naorem Damu and Naorem Romila, from Kwaksiphai Mayai Leikai, Manipur. Last year, Young wushu player Naorem Roshibina represented India won a gold medal at the 9th Asian Junior Wushu Championships 2017, Gumi City, Korea.  Naorem Roshibina competed in women’s sanshou event and defeated her opponent in the final to win the gold medal. Roshibina had also won a silver medal in the 6th World Junior Wushu Championships 2016 at Burgas in Bulgaria.
