Heisnam ongbi Ibenu, a women vegetable vendor sought for support from people and the government in managing cost of treating her ailing son. This 45 years old lady from Sagoltongba Makha Leikai has a son who got injuries in a road accident.
She was at Manipur Press Club on this Sunday. She told reporters that her son Heisnam Satyajit got injured on January 21 in a road accident. He is now in an unconscious state and lying in the the Intensive Care Unit of Raj Medicity hospital, North AOC. This 19 years old boy is a student of class XII.
Heisnam ongbi Ibenu said, on that day, he was on his Activa with his two friends. In that evening, they were going to gift something to one friend in Nambol. One policeman tried to stop these boys for not wearing helmet. Considering this, they drove off in high speed. While giving side to a truck, they missed existing potholes of construction work going on in the roadside. Satyajit and his other two friends, Konthoujam America and Konthoujam Manimatum met the accident.
This mother further added that the treatment cost is around Rs.2 lakh so far and doctors are saying that it would be even more. Somehow, few relatives of her her in-laws had managed this amount. But, it will be really tough for her if cost of treatment goes above two lakh.
She emotionally said in the press meet, “I am a daily wage earner selling vegetables sometimes and also does handloom work.  Satyajit is my only child and I want to keep him healthy and safe.” Five years ago, Heisnam ongbi Ibenu has already separated with her husband and along with her son, she was staying at her maternal home.
Heisnam ongbi Ibenu is poor and has no one to support in this sad condition. Other two boys, Konthoujam America and Konthoujam Manimatum were not severely injured like her son Satyajit. This 45 years old mother has urged CSOs and the concerned government to help her in this difficult situation.
