Guwahati: Copious downpour in the north-eastern states of Mizoram and Manipur cause havoc, state affected by landslides and flash floods.
In Manipur, the whole of Imphal Valley, consisting of 40 Assembly constituencies and four different districts including Aizawl, in Mizoram are under flood water, and tens of thousands of people dislocated.
CM N Biren Singh said that Imphal Valley right now resembles a sea and they are trying to save people and provide relief. We are trying to assess the condition.
The downpour has caused the national highway to be inaccessible due to landslides, and the All India Radio is submerged as well. The flood has also affected the electricity in the states. The state board has declared holidays.
Around 80% of road blockage caused due to landslides has already been cleared.
Assam also seems to be getting affected by floods and the National Highway near Kaziranga National Park was submerged for a few hours.
