Yesterday, Manipur CM held a Press Conference at the cabinet hall. Here, CM N. Biren Singh shared that state government will sincerely monitor the entry or presence of illegal immigrants in the state post publication of Assam NRC final draft. For this, two separate committees, state and district level has been constituted. These committees will initiate steps for checking and verification. These committees will also be creating adequate public awareness regarding the current situation.
He further informed that the district level committee will be headed by special secretary Home, the government of Manipur while the deputy commissioners and Superintendents of police, as members of the state level committee. The district level committee will be headed by the deputy commissioners concerned while superintendent of Police, SDOs, SDPO, SDCs, OCs will be the members.
There were great possibilities for people illegally crossing the state border. However, there is no report of detection of an illegal immigrant in Manipur.
