A celebration of Kang (Rath Jatra) festival has started in the Manipur state. This is a nine days long celebration. This celebration starts on the second day of the Engen month of Manipuri lunar calendar and ends on the 10th day of the month. This festival includes the main event of pulling of Kang, the traditional chariot and offering of flowers and fruits to Shree Shree Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra.
A large number of devotees reached at Shree Shree Govindajee temple complex to take part in the festival despite a downpour.
On Saturday, almost all localities of the State’s valley areas have celebrated Kang festival and related rituals in the evenings. This festival will conclude on July 22.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of the festival.
