Special judge, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), Imphal West has given judgment against an administrator of a children’s home. Timothy L Changsang was given a life sentence on Sunday for the rape of a minor. He is the administrator of North Eastern Children’s Home, Rengkai. Compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs was also recommended by the court.
This was a repeated appeal in the court and resulted in a life sentence for the accused. Earlier, special judge POCSO, Churachandpur had issued an order for discharging Timothy from any liability in this case.
According to police, the accused was convicted on April 30 under sections 6 and 10 of POCSO Act, 2012 and section 506 IPC. Timothy was arrested by police on July 24, 2015. The parents of the victim filed a petition with an alleged charge of molestation and repeated rape of their child at the children’s home.
