The Manipur Sahitya Parishad (MSP) today celebrated 84th foundation day and held 83rd annual award presentation at Maharaj Chandrakirti auditorium, Palace Compound.
Yesterday, Manipur Sahitya Parishad celebrated 84th foundation day. Several literature scholars were awarded in the annual award presentation at Maharaj Chandrakirti auditorium, Palace Compound. Governor, Najma Heptullah was the chief guest of the function. Noted literary personalities, Rajkumar Jhalajit Singh, Elangbam Sonamni Singh and Dr Jodhachandra Sanasam were awarded for their contributions in the state literature.
While addressing the gathering, Governor, Najma Heptullah told that she is making efforts to promote Manipuri Nat-Sankirtana as a chancellor of the Manipur University of Culture. She is also planning to launch a research project to reconnect with the South East Asian countries where the strong presence of Vaishnavite culture is felt.
Art and culture minister, Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar Singh also attended this ceremony. He said Manipur Culture Policy is presently in review stage and also, invited the Sahitya Parishad to share its views over this.
