Yesterday, R.K. Shivananda, convener of Act East Policy Committee, held a press conference at his residence at Kwakeithel. Shivananda told that recently completed highway connecting Myanmar through Moreh will be officially opened on August 8.
He further added that this 73.6 km ‘India-Myanmar Friendship Road’ has been under constant renovation to improve relations with the neighbouring nation. With the official opening of this route, it will surely enhance the communication system and international relations between the two nations. As there was no easy passage for the Indians to cross the border, there were lots of difficulties in travelling and transportation earlier. Not just this, people will now get e-visa in a short period of two-three days time.
With the opening of this roadway and the implementation of Act East Policy, possibilities of direct economic benefits from Myanmar will be much higher.
