Chief Minister, N. Biren was in the flag-off ceremony of “Road to London 2018”, at Hotel Classic Grande, where he announced that the Central government has earmarked Rs.1,600 crores for converting Imphal-Moreh road into the four-lane highway.
Chief Minister also said that the Central government is concerned about Imphal-Moreh road as this one is the gateway of India to all the eastern countries of Asia.
Here in this meet, he also gave his best wish to all the participants of the expedition. On behalf of the people of the state, he further said that all such cross border expeditions are going to help in promoting the North East states to other countries too.
26 individuals including eight women from different corners of the country along with three organizing members took part in this expedition. This expedition from Imphal to London will cover 18 countries, 16,000 km in a span of 49 days. There will be 15 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) utilised for this expedition.
Representatives of Thailand tourism department will also be assisting in this expedition by aiding flag off ceremony in Imphal, Tak and Chiang Khong, Thailand.
