The army was claiming something else. However, documentary evidence is indicating that three Manipuri youth was killed in custody in Dimapur in 2010.
Yambem Laba shared about a confidential citation letter to a former Brigadier General Staff of 3-Corp CISU for a lady officer for her part in the elimination of the three.
Yesterday, this former member of the Manipur State Human Rights Commission did a press conference at the Jupiter Yambem Centre, Paona Bazar and shared photocopies of this letter with media.
Yambem Laba said that initially, the army was denying about the killing of these three Manipuri youth. On March 2010, for the first time one Maj. T. Ravi Kiran had revealed to his superior about it, but the complaint was swept under the carpet. Later, Lt. Col. Dharamvir Singh also wrote to his superior in September 2016. However, that superior had mounted pressure on him and was made to withdraw the complaint letter.
Laba further added that Former Brigadier General Staff of 3-Corps, Abhay Kumar had also acknowledged about these killings.
Yambem Laba appealed that Honorable Supreme Court should count this case along with the ongoing investigation on the custodial killing of 1528 Manipuri people at the hands of army and state police.
