Addressing a press conference, Manipur IGP Clay Khongsai on Thursday
said 586 underground cadres were arrested and 18 others killed in
counter-insurgency operations during last year. He also mentioned
about recovery of a large number of arms. He told that 783 cases were
disposed off from registered 1171 FIRs in the last year.
This Press Conference was organised by the Manipur information and
public relations department at its head office.
As an answer of a question about illegal poppy plantations, Khongsai
said that we have destroyed illegal poppy plantations in 1837 acres land
area and around 33 kilograms of opium were seized.
IGP, Manipur also share about initiative for encouraging the citizens to
assist the police in maintaining public safety and crime prevention. To
bridge the people-police gap, chief minister N Biren Singh has launched
a 'Manipur Police Citizen Portal' in February. Other than this, crime and
criminal tracking network and systems (CCTNS) was also launched.
