On Monday, one rifleman from 13 Sikh Regiment was killed during an encounter with the NSCN-IM. As per police, regiment was on the mission in the morning and along with the regiment, Manipur police and Assam Rifles were at Khoupum area in Manipur’s Noney district to tackle the NSCN-IM.
As per reports, it was a search operation launched to nab the militant group. In 2015, this group had signed the Framework Agreement with the Central Government to resolve the longstanding Naga problem.  However, they are now not following it. Hence, this join operation was needed.
